Lower School (K–6) Admission Process

Welcome to Providence. We are excited to share our dynamic Lower School program with you. The activities and deadlines listed below are an important part of the admission process for students entering Grades K–6.

Apply Online

Click here to begin the online application.

All supplemental forms made available through the online application must be printed and submitted as instructed.

An application fee of $100 (grades 1-6) or $150 (kindergarten only, to cover both academic and developmental assessments) will be charged when the application is submitted.

Assessments and Parent Interviews

Readiness assessments and parent interviews will be administered for families who have submitted an application. The Office of Admission will contact you to schedule the assessment once the completed application has been received. Assessments take approximately one hour. At the same time, parents will have a short family interview with a school administrator.

Besides an academic assessment, kindergarten applicants are assessed for developmental readiness by a trained third party using the Gesell Institute assessment tool. Parents will receive a full report on the assessment.

Recommendations

New student applicants for grades K–6 are required to submit a current teacher’s observation and recommendation. You may download the Teacher’s Observation Form from the Applications and Forms section of the online application. The school at which your child is currently enrolled (or if not enrolled in school, an adult who knows the child well) should send the completed form directly to:

Visit Providence

There is no better way to get to know a community than to experience it firsthand. We provide families with several opportunities to visit our campus. Join us for an individual campus visit or attend any or all admission information events listed on the school calendar. Or call us at (805) 962-3091 and we will be pleased to tailor an individual visit for you.

Tuition and Tuition Assistance

Providence is committed to enrolling students from families who seek a community for their child that develops character, nurtures faith, and encourages intellectual growth. The school charges a tuition that covers most of the cost to educate a student. Our tuition rates are carefully, thoughtfully, and prayerfully set by our Board of Directors every December. We are committed to providing the highest-quality education possible, giving families value for the dollars spent. Supporters who believe in the mission of Christian education make generous gifts to allow us to keep tuition rates low and to offer a tuition-assistance program.

Providence works hard to provide need-based and mission-driven tuition assistance to families who cannot afford the full tuition. The tuition assistance information page provides answers to questions you may have. If you wish to apply for tuition assistance, you may begin the online application process from that page. Providence will work closely with your family to make attending this school a reality for your student.
