Raising funds at Providence serves the purpose of bridging the difference between what tuition provides and what the school needs to fulfill its mission. Providence works hard to maintain tuition levels that are as reasonable as possible while upholding the integrity and quality of programs and services.
The school holds a series of annual fundraising events and campaigns and is dependent on the support of families, alumni, and the greater Santa Barbara community who believe in the importance of Christian schooling.
This annual fund is the primary vehicle for supporting the operations of Providence. Gifts to the Providence Fund directly support the day-to-day operations of the school, from light bulbs to professional development seminars for teachers. If you can support only one fundraising activity, the Providence Fund is the vehicle of choice.
Fall Forum: Engaging Ideas of Consequence
The Fall Forum event brings a speaker of national significance to the Santa Barbara community every fall. Hugh Hewitt and Eric Metaxas join us in 2014, for a wise and witty dialogue on Metaxas’s new book, Miracles. Past speakers have included Dr. Benjamin Carson, Dennis Prager, Louis Zamperini, and a previous appearance by Eric Metaxas. The event is more than just a lecture. The “Just Desserts and Just Jazz” program features an array of outstanding desserts, music by the Westmont Jazz Ensemble, and a program combining great fun and deeply stimulating conversations. Funds raised at this event go to the Tuition Angel Scholarship program.
Auction & Dinner
Each spring, Providence hosts a live and silent auction event to fund programs and operations for the school year. Held at the oceanside Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel’s Coral Casino, this event provides the community an opportunity to bid on exciting items such as exotic vacations, food and wine packages, sports memorabilia, and much more. This event is one of our most important fundraisers.
The Santa Barbara Youth Races
Each October, the school participates in a city-wide track meet at Westmont College that draws hundreds of participants and families. This fun community-building event raises awareness of our school in the larger community, and raises funds through sponsorships and participation fees. Parent Council Fundraisers
The Lower School and Upper School Parents Councils are organizations of Providence parents who work to oversee many of the “extras” that make our school such a special place. They hold a series of fundraisers that raise money on a smaller scale. The funds for these events go directly into the classroom in the form of enhancements to technology and curriculum that students experience firsthand.
