“High Pressure and High Anxiety” – April 12

April 6, 2018 by Elaine Rottman

Matt Long is Providence’s academic dean and a trained sports psychologist. His Providence Presents talk will be of great interest to all parents of children and teens who become anxious under pressure or obsess over test scores and grades.

Matt LongMatt is passionate about helping students develop a well-rounded skill set in order to reach their potential in the classroom, in the athletic arena, and in their future endeavors.

His countercultural approach develops grounded, confident young people who are able to perform under pressure and who can relax and experience the joy of learning.

In this program, he will cover:

  • What the research says about levels of anxiety and depression in children, particularly teens
  • The impact of our results-obsessed culture
  • Defining and applying a healthy mindset for performance
  • Practical tips for parents who want to help students navigate high-pressure environments

This program is meant to be a conversation. There will be plenty of time for questions. Anyone is welcome to attend. Bring a friend!
