Providence Presents Jim Ryun, Olympic Medalist and Congressman

October 4, 2019 by Elaine Rottman

Providence presents an evening with Olympic medalist Jim Ryun, the first high school boy to run the mile in under four minutes, rated by ESPN as the number one high school athlete of all time—beating Tiger Woods and LeBron James. Ryun’s life journey, from being cut from the church baseball team to earning medals in three different Olympics, setting world records in several events, and serving as a U.S. Congressman demonstrates how God reveals himself in the midst of disappointments and successes.

Ryun will challenge young athletes and their parents to think about their own goals, dreams, and motivations and to make needed course corrections to reach their true God-given gifting.

Jim Ryun’s latest book, The Courage to Run, a daily devotional, will be available for sale and signing at the event, which will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 7 pm at Christ Presbyterian Church (36 E. Victoria Street, Santa Barbara).

Please join us for an evening of information you can use.

All are welcome to this free program for the Santa Barbara community. Invite your running group, sports team, church youth group, neighbors, and friends!
