Alumni Spotlight

Anna Beebe

Class of 2011

Anna joined Providence as a quiet, introverted freshman who didn’t very much like school. Her new teachers and friends graciously challenged her to come out of her shell. She remembers an assignment to give a presentation about herself. She was terrified. But after her teacher, Mr. Elwood, spent time with her to help make it work, his encouragement changed her outlook on public speaking. Now a Westmont College graduate and a graduate student at Fuller Seminary, Anna has the confidence to speak in front of a group, and has even done a joint presentation alongside her education professor.

“Choosing Providence is one of the best decisions my parents and I made for my life. Providence classes are challenging and I found it thrilling to try to perform well academically. My teachers saw my potential and drew it out. Those relationships were a huge factor in my success, as was the positive peer atmosphere. I did honors work because my friends did. In delving deeper, I discovered what lights my intellectual fire. After college, I want to be a teacher or counselor at a place like Providence.” ~ Anna Beebe, Class of 2011
